Job Title: Senior Project Manager - JIRA Deployment (PPM Tool)

About the Company:

A leading financial services company is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the implementation of JIRA as a Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tool. This role will oversee the end-to-end deployment, ensuring alignment with business objectives while identifying future phases to extend scope and benefits, including add-ons. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, business ownership, and technical expertise in configuring and deploying Atlassian products.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Ownership & Delivery

• Serve as the business owner, providing Atlassian subject matter expertise and ensuring the project delivers planned benefits while scoping future phases.
• Lead the implementation of JIRA as a PPM tool from the Business Case stage through to operationalisation, ensuring adherence to time, budget, scope, and quality constraints.
• Ensure smooth transition from the Discovery phase to planning and delivery, accelerating project execution.

Financial & Benefit Management

• Prepare project cost estimates for funding approval and manage delivery against agreed costs to optimise efficiency and resource utilisation.
• Monitor benefits throughout the change programme, ensuring alignment with the original business case and managing dependencies across business units.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

• Engage, inform, and negotiate with key stakeholders, including leadership, business owners, IT, and software development teams.
• Work closely with Atlassian partners to tailor the JIRA configuration to business requirements.
• Oversee vendor performance, ensuring adherence to schedules, quality standards, and contractual agreements.

Project Governance & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with project governance frameworks and delivery methodologies.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues while communicating mitigation strategies to stakeholders.
• Drive project decision-making and escalation processes to achieve successful outcomes.

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead and mentor project team members to maximise resource utilisation and build project management capabilities across the organisation.
• Foster collaboration within cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Project Management certification (e.g., PMI, Prince2, Agile) preferred.
• 10+ years of project management experience, managing budgets of $2M+ in an Agile environment.
• Proven experience in implementing and managing JIRA within an enterprise environment.
• Expertise in JIRA administration, including creating custom workflows, dashboards, and reports.
• Strong understanding of the Atlassian product suite (JIRA, Confluence, and various plugins).
• Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements, ensuring solutions drive business value.
• Experience leading large-scale business transformation projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills, with a proven track record in stakeholder management.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
• Experience managing third-party vendors and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
