An opportunity is available for a highly motivated person to join our team as the Housing Officer for the communities of Bourke, Brewarrina, Coonamble, Gulargambone, Collarenebri, Walgett, and Lightning Ridge.
The employee's base location is flexible, either located or within reasonable proximity to the above communities. A company vehicle will be provided for work related travel.
The Housing Officer is responsible for delivering and providing high quality tenancy and property management services to our portfolio of properties and tenants within guidelines of the Murdi Paaki Housing policies and procedures and the NSW Residential Tenancy Act.
Key tasks
- Preparation and provision of tenancy sign up pack to new tenants
- Preparation and signing Residential Tenancy Agreements at commencement of tenancies
- Understand and explain client and landlord rights and responsibilities under the Residential Tenancy Act
- Establish rent payment process with clients at start of tenancy and throughout tenancy
- Sign up tenants for rent arrears and implement recovery process as defined in arrears management procedure
- Represent the organisation at the NCAT
- Understand the rent setting policy
- Engage in the organisation's process for gaining tenant satisfaction levels
- Report tenancy complaints, disputes and issues to management
- Where appropriate, refer tenants to support services
To be successful in this role you'll need:
- Aboriginality and demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal cultural beliefs.
- Current driver’s license
- Working with Children and National Criminal Record Check, or the ability to obtain
- Ability to work independently, setting and maintaining the approved schedule
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with a focus on attention to detail.
- Strong IT skills across the Microsoft Office Suite with a willingness to learn and use company systems.

- Salary range - Up to $91 586 per year plus superannuation and optional salary packaging
- 5 weeks paid annual leave, plus Christmas closure
