Pennant Hills BASC – Centre Director and Nominated Supervisor

Pennant Hills Before & After School Care (OSHC) is looking for an experienced and motivated Director and Nominated Supervisor to lead our OSHC service. Our service caters for up to 200 children during term time and school holidays. The Director currently reports to a volunteer Parent Management Committee (PMC) with transition to P&C in progress.

The Position :

1. Full time, 38 hours per week.
2. Attractive above award rate for the right candidate
3. Block shifts, with a focus on being present for after school care.
4. Remaining hours used for administration, meetings, etc.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead educators to work as an effective team to create a safe, inclusive and engaging environment for children.
2. Work effectively with stakeholders including staff, students, families, school, government and community.
3. Support and develop educators through professional learning, supervision and collaborative discussions.
4. Forward plan staffing and budgeting, ensuring suitable educators are interviewed and hired to meet requirements.
5. Apply problem-solving and conflict management techniques in complex situations.
6. Work in collaboration with the Parent Management Committee, attend meetings and present detailed written reports.
7. Ensure the service adheres to the National Quality Standards and strives for continuous improvement with an active QIP.
8. Ensure the service complies with all relevant government guidelines and funding requirements.
9. Ensure adequate operational, licensing, risk management and workplace health and safety procedures.
10. Maintain policies and procedures.

Essential Criteria :

1. Initiative, positive attitude and skills for effective leadership and management.
2. Current Working with Children Check.
3. Current First Aid Certificate including Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management, completion of an approved Child Protection Course and Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
4. Tertiary qualifications in Primary Education or Early Childhood OR 3 years’ experience in an OSHC leadership role and Diploma of School Age Education and Care (or working towards)
5. Comprehensive knowledge of the My Time Our Place Framework.
6. Extensive knowledge of the National Quality Standard and National Quality Framework.
7. Professional level of written and verbal communication skills.
