We are seeking a Senior Legal Assistant to join our rapidly growing firm as an integral member of our team. The role would suit a candidate looking to work on interesting and diverse litigation matters, in a law firm that cares about you as a person.

About you
The role of a Legal Assistant is crucial to the successful delivery of legal services. The successful candidate will be:
- An experienced legal assistant (experience as a paralegal not essential) who is passionate about working in an environment of a NewLaw firm which is progressive in its model;
- Proactive and able to show initiative to set strategy and achieve successful delivery of tasks to completion;
- Organised, efficient and self-sufficient;
- A collaborative and supportive team member in our small close-knit team environment, who can liaise with our senior leading litigators based in Melbourne and Queensland;
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic practice;
- Keen to develop a long-term, mutually beneficial working relationship with the firm.
Your responsibilities:
- Communicating with clients, taking instructions from our lawyers including via Teams, phone and email;
- Opening and closing files, drafting correspondence and sending to relevant parties;
- Use of the firm’s practice management system including saving correspondence and documents to relevant matters;
- Assisting with preparation of Court documents, filing of Court documents electronically, responding to document requests and discovery applications;
- Calendar management for legal staff including sending calendar invitations for meetings and booking conference facilities when necessary for our CBD offices;
- Preparations and assistance at trial, including preparing briefs to Counsel;
- Responding to the growing needs of the firm from an administrative perspective, assisting with the implementation of new processes where necessary and delegating tasks to other administrative staff where necessary; and
- Monitoring and recording of our lawyers' CPD points in our system.
What will support your success:
- A minimum of 6 years' legal experience, ideally in a Litigation and /or Family Law practice;
- Thorough knowledge of Court and litigation processes;
- Experience working with well-known law firm practice management software;
- Strong active listening, research and writing skills;
- Excellent organisational and time management skills;
- High attention to detail;
- A positive attitude;
- Ability to work autonomously and work collaboratively with a small team; and
- Self-motivated and reliable with a strong work ethic.
