Indigenous Personal Carer | Pinangba | Shalom Elders Village, Townsville
  • Employment Status: Casual with Part Time and Full Time options considered

  • Remuneration: $41.87 p/hr (Inclusive of Casual Loading) + 11.5% Super + Penalties & Allowances + Employee discounts

We are seeking individuals who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander who are interested in pursuing a career as a Personal Carer.

To perform this role, it is essential that the person is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991.

The Pinangba service of Shalom Elders Village is based in a quiet Townsville suburb. We provide premium care in a culturally appropriate setting and pride ourselves on our genuine commitment to making residents feel part of an extended and welcoming community in an open and inviting setting.

Your part in our Pinangba Team

As a Personal Carer you'll provide care to your clients living in our residential home, supporting their independence and improving their quality of life through activities that include:

  • Daily living assistance including showering, personal hygiene, help at meal times and general mobility
  • Providing care in accordance with their individualised Care Plan
  • Supporting with community based recreational and social activities

What makes a difference for us?

  • Certificate III Aged Care, Individual Support, Home and Community Care, Disability Support, or an equivalent qualification preferred but not essential. Full training may be available through the Indigenous Employment Initiative (IEI) program
  • Experience with technology incl. smartphones, tablets, laptops etc
  • Confidence to satisfy the relevant probity checks required by legislation or policies
  • NDIS Workers Screening Clearance or willingness to obtain
