Our client, a global mining and renewable energy company, is seeking a Battery Engineer to join their innovative team on a 6-month contract, with the potential to extend or transition into a permanent role after this period. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in mechanical or electrical engineering to contribute to cutting-edge energy storage solutions. The role is primarily office-based, with occasional time spent in the workshop for hands-on testing. The pay rate is approximately $100 per hour, with flexibility to offer more for the right candidate.

The Role:

As a Battery Engineer, you will be involved in developing and testing lithium battery cells for use in energy storage systems. You will work closely with the engineering team to conduct detailed performance analysis and ensure that safety protocols are followed. This role requires strong communication skills, as you will be translating technical information between the engineering, sales, and finance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement functional testing requirements for lithium battery cells
• Perform performance analysis of lithium battery cells, including CT scans and capacitary testing, to assist in selecting appropriate cells for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Collaborate with the Hydrogen Production team to design a cell protection system for PEM electrolysis
• Prepare Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Hazard Identification (HAZID) documents
• Engage with internal stakeholders across engineering, commercial, sales, and finance teams to effectively communicate technical information and project status.

What You’ll Need:

• A background in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in battery testing and following OEM instructions (familiarity with lithium batteries is a plus).
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical details to non-technical teams.
• Experience preparing safety documentation such as JHA and HAZID.
• A hands-on approach to testing and problem-solving
