We have an exceptional new role with a highly influential and prestigious property developer who is renowned for creating iconic, luxury, mixed-use projects that redefine urban living.

They are seeking an exceptional Design Director to join their leadership team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of their portfolio.

It’s a rare opportunity for a visionary Designer to take the reins and lead the design process across multiple high-profile, mixed-use developments. You'll be instrumental in pushing the boundaries, challenging conventional thinking, and creating world-class spaces that stand the test of time.

Essential Skills & Attributes:

  • Relevant Architecture qualification
  • Significant experience in Architecture and/or Development
  • Passion for luxury design and a keen understanding of brand vision
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with a proven ability to guide a team
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, both internal and external
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Hands-on approach, ability to take the lead of the project design process
  • Strong understanding of local planning regulations and building controls

As Design Director, you will be the driving force behind the design vision from initial concept through documentation to completion. Responsibilities will include:

  • Vision & Strategy: Developing project briefs, design guidelines and concept documents that capture the essence of each project
  • Design Leadership: Guiding and coordinating external consultants (architects, planners, builders, engineers, designers) throughout the project lifecycle, from feasibility and schematic design to construction and delivery
  • Mixed-Use Expertise: Primarily focusing on complex, mixed-use projects, while also contributing to other projects within the portfolio as needed
  • Consultant Management: Managing consultant engagements, including fee proposals, scope of works, and ensuring optimal outcomes
  • Marketing Collaboration: Working closely with marketing stakeholders to align design vision with creative campaigns
  • Stakeholder Management: Representing the developer in design-related interactions with external stakeholders
  • Commercial Acumen: Driving the commercial planning of projects, optimising architectural plans and maximising building efficiency
  • Planning & Approvals: Assisting in securing planning approvals and ensuring compliance with design-related conditions
  • Design Optimisation: Continuously reviewing floorplans and architectural designs to identify improvements, efficiencies, and enhanced saleability
  • Sales & Legal Support: Providing design information to sales, marketing and legal teams for project launches
  • Customisation Management: Overseeing design change requests from purchasers
  • Construction Collaboration: Working closely with appointed builders to ensure design integrity and proactively manage any issues
  • New Business Support: Assisting in the assessment of potential development sites, including planning controls and high-level design concepts
  • Feasibility & Acquisition: Contributing to feasibility studies and preparing development summaries and drawing sets
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Training and mentoring design team members, fostering a culture of excellence
