About the opportunity
The Faculty of Education is a diverse, passionate and dynamic community dedicated to driving educational change through research, teaching, and service. Offering programs in Early Childhood, Primary, Secondary, and Higher Education, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The Faculty also has a thriving higher degree by research program. With over 6,000 students, it is renowned for its collaborative research in education, including the Sustainability, Environment, and Arts in Education (SEAE) Research Centre, TeachLab, and the Early Years Research Lab (EYRL). The Faculty's research addresses key educational challenges globally, with leading experts in the field.
Southern Cross University is seeking a Senior Lecturer in Education – Primary English, who will actively contribute to the Faculty through student centred teaching practice and development in Primary and early years English. As a Senior Lecturer, you will:
- Provide high-quality teaching, educational design, and delivery in line with University policies and guidelines.
- Lead teaching and learning initiatives at the Senior Lecturer level and enhance the student learning experience through a learning-centred approach, technology adoption, and flexible delivery modes.
- Contribute to innovative curriculum development and engage in the scholarship of teaching to inform and improve teaching practices
- Contribute to the Faculty’s research profile through publications, successful grant applications, and leadership in research activities
- Supervise HDR students, mentor early career researchers, and engage in scholarly activities that support curriculum design and development
- Collaborate with other Faculties and external stakeholders, supervise undergraduate honours students, and contribute to administrative and Faculty-wide activities
About you
You will be passionate about student teaching and supporting student learning and have a keen interest in education research. More specifically, you will have:
- PhD or Professional Doctorate in Education, Primary/Early Years English, or a relevant discipline, along with an appropriate teaching qualification in Primary Education. NSW Teacher Accreditation, Queensland Teacher Registration and/or equivalent state/territory registration will be highly regarded.
- Proven experience in initial teacher education for Primary/Early Years English, including expertise in the design, implementation, and evaluation of curricula and resources that enhance student learning.
- Proven leadership experience in teaching, research and/or community in Education and specifically Primary/Early Years English
- A strong track record in research, evidenced by securing research grants, supervising/completing Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates, and producing publications in top-quartile journals.
- Evidence of active participation in research collaborations, professional practice, staff development activities, placement partnerships, and community groups. A demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity and an understanding of equity and Workplace Heath and Safety principles.
Salary and benefits

- Full-time, continuing (permanent)
- Located at either Coffs Harbour, NSW 2450, Gold Coast, QLD 4225, or Lismore, NSW 2480. Generous relocation support available.
- Academic Level C. The base salary ranges from $134,848 - $155,046 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $181,403.
