Team Leader Community Corrections - Talent Pool Creation

Hunter District Community Corrections,

Corrective Services NSW

Locations- Cessnock, Gosford, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Muswellbrook, Newcastle, Taree, Wyong.

Employment type- Talent Pool Creation - A talent pool will be created for future ongoing and temporary roles within Hunter District and is valid for a period of up to 18 months.

Salary -$118,296 - $122, 059 pa, plus super and leave loading (Clerk Grade 8)

Your role

This role will provide you with a great opportunity for growth and the development of leadership skills within Community Corrections. You will be a fundamental part of leading the team in both parole and community work offices to shape the future of Community Corrections

What you'll do

As part of the middle management team in community corrections, you will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Provide professional support, mentoring and leadership to a team of Community Corrections Officers (CCOs) to maintain a high standard of professional service delivery that is compliant with legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain a cohesive team with positive and transparent culture focused on best practice and excellence.
  • Guide and support team members with differing levels of experience and technical competence to enable their development.
  • Assess risk and prioritise demands within available resources to ensure the quality of interventions are maintained at a high standard, and resources are targeted to where they will have the greatest impact.
  • Work as part of a leadership team to identify systemic areas for development, implement and monitor activities to ensure team members' work quality is in line with best practices.

What we're looking for

  • Capacity to provide professional supervision, coaching and mentoring to develop team members, including new CCOs during "on the job training" and a mandatory probation period.
  • Strong leadership skills, including in engaging and motivating staff, and previous experience in providing professional supervision, development, and coaching.
  • Flexible and resilient, to respond to the varied demands of a Community Corrections Office and management of complex and higher risk offenders.
  • Skills and confidence to provide clear and constructive feedback to promote individual accountability and develop staff capability.
