Working with parent, families, carers and kin of children and young people with complex mental health conditions, the Team Leader - Peer Facilitator Team is responsible for leading the delivery of the Resilience in Reach statewide workshops. implementing the online peer network framework and ensuring the referral system to the peer network is developed and implemented.
Resilience in Reach is a 3-year project funded through the Information, Linkages and Capacity Building program via Department of Social Services.
Raising Minds Ltd is working in partnership with Parent to Parent Association Qld Inc to deliver Resilience in Reach. The Project will operate from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2027.
Resilience in Reach is designed to bridge these gaps by supporting families, carers and kin as the primary foundations for children and young people with complex mental health needs.
Through this project, we aim to:
- Strengthen family units to provide stable and nurturing environments.
- Help families and young people navigate complex systems, including disability, health, and community services.
- Reduce stigma and barriers, while promoting inclusion and understanding.
To ensure maximum reach and inclusion, Resilience in Reach will offer:
- Face-to-face workshops tailored to specific communities.
- An online community for ongoing support and connection.
Self-help online modules that are accessible anytime, anywhere.
Key Skills, Experience and Attributes
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including problem-solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Knowledge and/or experience of the mental health clinical and community sectors, including hospital mental health wards, child and youth and adult community mental health services, Primary Health Networks, Head to Health, and mental health intake, assessment, and referral services.
- Lived experience of being a parent, carer or kin of a child or young person with complex mental health condition and understanding of the journey and its impact on the individual, families, workplaces, friends and communities.
- Experience in workshop design and delivery including facilitation and engagement of workshop participants.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field relating to social service delivery, community advocacy or mental health.
- Valid Queensland’s Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or ability to obtain one upon commencement of employment.
Applicants with experience in the following will be highly regarded;
- Relevant Team Leader, Management or Leadership experience of up to 5yrs +;
- Project Management skills;
- Sound knowledge of self-advocacy, healthcare rights and human rights in the context of mental health within Australia.
