About the Role

Our Connected Communities branch delivers programs that build on Brisbane's reputation as a growing creative, vibrant, safe, healthy and inclusive city. We have a fantastic permanent opportunity for a Program Officer to join the Community Grants Team. This is an exciting and impactful role where you will be responsible for the successful delivery of Council’s community grants programs, supporting local non-profit organisations and community groups to develop and improve services and facilities across Brisbane. You will play a key part in responding to community needs, ensuring Council’s programs are effectively implemented, and helping drive positive change within the community.

As a Program Officer, you will manage all aspects of the grant program lifecycle, from marketing and administration to processing, delivery, and acquittal. Your role will involve coordinating with internal teams, including policy officers from various branches, to ensure smooth operations and compliance. You will also monitor and review service agreements, support program staff, and manage the SmartyGrants system for application tracking, reporting, and payment processing. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the ongoing success of the community grants programs and to directly impact the development of Brisbane’s community services.

To be successful you will have:

  • experience with database management and using SmartyGrants or similar grants management system
  • proficiency in research, problem-solving, report writing, and making appropriate recommendations and decisions
  • strong teamwork and independent working skills, with the ability to collaborate across multifunctional teams
  • ability to identify and implement process improvements, with flexibility to support team members as needed
  • experience in managing administrative systems, project planning, and evaluating within timeframes and budgets.
