The Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Town's dynamic and collaborative Community Development team as Community Development Officer - Community Wellbeing.

As Community Development Officer - Community Wellbeing, you will work with individuals, communities and organisations of Hedland in a meaningful, collaborative and capacity building manner. You will have the opportunity to make a real difference in Port Hedland as you plan, implement and evaluate community development initiatives with an emphasis on community and wellbeing support.

To succeed in this position, you will have demonstrated experience working within community development as well as knowledge of the challenges and opportunities affecting our community. Experience in leading the planning and administration of community development networks, programs and events will also play a key role as you work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate community engagement processes to enhance engagement with the local community.

Work Related Requirements

The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:

  • Demonstrated experience in the community development sector and/or tertiary qualifications in Community Services, Community Development or Social Science
  • National Police Clearance
  • Current 'C' class drivers license
  • Rights to work in Australia
