A business with core values circling around developing people, innovation, ongoing improvements and excellence in customer service and product quality, the opportunity is a rare find for an experienced Operations Manager with Pre-Production exposure in home building.

Your Role
You will form part of the executive team and report directly to senior leadership. You will lead all front-end project activities, including the Drafting, Estimating and New Work Production. This important position ensures that projects are accurately scoped, planned and aligned with customer requirements before moving through to the operations team for scheduling. The primary focus areas of this position are to;

• Oversee teams responsible for Customer Service across all matters related to pre-sales and drafting activity, including document management, along with sales and quote follow ups.
• Act as the main point of contact for customers during the quoting, order acceptance, design and pre-production phase, managing expectations and providing updates on project progress
• Liaise with internal Sales and Customer Service, Drafting Team Leaders, Estimating, Finance, Operations, Suppliers and key stakeholders to clarify project details, timelines and resolve potential issues
• Support the MD to identify and execute new business development opportunities, secure new projects, and strengthen existing client relationships
• Prepare and present regular reports on Drafting and Estimating activities, including project status and performance
• Oversee the teams responsible for the preparation of detailed project drawings, specifications and estimating, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and industry standards
• Validate the feasibility of new projects by assessing design specifications, material requirements and budget constraints
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and direction to the Drafting, Estimating & Customer Service leaders and their teams, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy and priorities, and delivery of work which is accurate and efficient
• Foster a collaborative and solution-focused team culture, encouraging innovation and ongoing improvement
• Accurately forecast forward demand and plan on time delivery through effective resource management and workload planning

Other Details
The position is a full-time permanent role, onsite at the workplace, and offers great flexibility and development of their people. The organisation prides itself on the execution of innovative planning, growth and success measures and this position is for someone enthusiastic to positively drive the Pre-Production BU forward. Remuneration guide is $140 – 160K + Super + STI.

About You

• Formal Qualifications in Engineering, Drafting, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline
• Further training in Business, Sales, Leadership across Residential Home Building (desirable)
• Proven experience in Drafting, Estimating, or Pre-Production Management, ideally within Manufacturing, Construction or Engineering
• Strong leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams
• Exceptional organisational and scheduling abilities to ensure seamless workflow and timely delivery of pre-production activities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with customers, stakeholders, and internal teams
• Advanced proficiency in drafting and estimation software, as well as MS 365 Suite
• Strong problem-solving capabilities, with a proactive approach to addressing risks and challenges during the pre-production phase
• A customer-focused mindset, with a commitment to delivering high-quality and competitive project outcomes
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulations applicable to drafting, estimation, and pre- production activities
