About us:

Racecourse Projects, situated in the Mackay region of Queensland, Australia, farms sugar cane, including completion of a number of large scale greenfield development projects. The first property acquisition was made in October 2013 and since then Racecourse Projects has expanded to over 5,000 ha of cane land, delivering cane to Mackay Sugar and Wilmar Sugar.

The company also undertakes its own harvesting, operating three harvesting groups, with two of these exceeding 100,000 tonnes cane.

Racecourse Projects prides itself in implementing best practice in terms of sugar cane farming, including controlled traffic and variable rate technology. The company achieved Bonsucro accreditation in 2017, an international comprehensive standard for sustainable farming of sugar cane.

Career opportunity: Group Operations Manager

The Group Operations Manager is responsible for the strategic and day-to-day management of Racecourse Projects farming operations, with large scale sugar cane operations over three locations.

Reporting to the Operating Partner, the Group Operations Manager will implement best practice in the farming operations and coordinate all planning and problem solving to maximise the commercial and operational outcomes.

This varied management role will implement best practice in the recommendation and use of cultivation, chemicals and fertiliser for sugar cane, have responsibility for financial management, workforce planning and development, people management and coordinate all aspects of crop cultivation, planting, growing, harvesting and land management.

Leading a team of Farm Managers, field staff and harvest operations, the Group Operations Manager will create a strong culture, be responsible for operational outputs, budgeting and financial management, and will drive a proactive approach to safety, maintenance and compliance to underpin operations.
