ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Coordinator - South, this position will be part of a larger team seeking to implement a culturally responsive model of Out of Home Care providing Temporary Care, Group Foster Care and Community Foster Care options across Perth’s Metropolitan areas.
You will work with the team to provide robust practice excellence in working with Aboriginal Children, Young People, Family, and Communities. You will foster a learning culture within the team, being pro-active in supporting staff to implement quality practice, while facilitating opportunities for training and professional development. You will be an active contributor to the continuous improvement of the service and contribute to service reports as required by funding bodies.
You will be involved in all aspects of case management and planning such as meetings with education, health, mental health, child protection and other relevant services to ensure that all primary needs of the Children and Young People in the care arrangement are being met.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- A courageous ‘can-do’ attitude as an integral leader of a transformational program that will change the Out of Home Care experience for Aboriginal Children; Young People; Families and Communities.
- A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or related discipline or 3-5 years of significant relevant experience in a Child Protection / Out of Home Care setting.
- Proven ability to manage complex cases, attend care planning meetings, as well as supporting case workers to manage and respond to their case loads in a planned, measured, clear, and well-documented way.
- Considerable experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to promote healing, safety, learning, connection, and wellbeing.
- Demonstrated high level communication, facilitation and negotiation skills including written, oral and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage stakeholder relationships and promote the reputation of the Ngalla Bidee Mia program and work part of a team to deliver a quality, culturally appropriate service.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and act decisively.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
- WA Working with Children Card
- National Police Clearance (dated within the last 3 months)
- WA Divers Licence
- Department of Communities Screening (we'll help successful candidates to apply)
