Nurse Unit Manager (Level 3) - Hospital Drug and Alcohol Consultation Liaison
What you'll be doing
The central aim of Hospital Drug and Alcohol Consultation Liaison is to enhance the safety, clinical outcomes, quality and efficiency of services for patients with substance use disorders in hospital settings.
This role is responsible for the efficient management of the Hospital Drug & Alcohol Consultation & Liaison (HDACL) nursing team in accordance with the NSW Health HDACL and SESLHD Emergency Department Assessment Unit (EDAU) Models of Care. The NUM is responsible for leading nursing staff, ensuring effective liaison between all health professionals and is responsible for the environment, work, and health and safety management.
The purpose of the NUM role for services is to:
- Lead, direct and coordinate patient care for HDACL services at Prince of Wales, St George and Sutherland Hospitals.
- Ensure the practice of nursing is safe and efficient, while maintaining standards of care.
- Lead and co-ordinate the nursing and multi-disciplinary care team at the unit level and monitor and manage the business and management functions and processes of the ward or unit.
The NUM performs as a clinical leader and manager with accountability for culture, quality and safety, professional integrity, financial management, change management and the experience of patients. This role is pivotal to the cultivation of collaborative relationships and effective teamwork furthering the advancement of the nursing profession.
Please note that specific Drug & Alcohol experience is desireable, but not required to succeed in this role
Where you'll be working
SESLHD Drug and Alcohol Service offers a range of treatment and support services for people with problems from their alcohol, prescription or illicit drug use, and/or their families and carers.
This role is district wide which will see you frequently travel out to the other sites as detailed below, but is primarily based at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick. Randwick is a vibrant suburb in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, known for its beautiful beaches, parks, and strong community atmosphere, it offers a perfect blend of lifestyle and convenience. Outpatient D&A services are located in clinics at the Langton Centre in Surry Hills, St George Hospital in Kogarah, and Caringbah Community Health Centre at Sutherland Hospital. Inpatient D&A services are provided at Sydney Hospital, Prince of Wales, St. George and Sutherland Hospitals. Our goal is to improve health, wellbeing and social outcomes for individuals, families and the community, related to drug and alcohol use.
