About This Opportunity

Advancement and Community Engagement is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager, Advancement and Community Engagement who will work closely with the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Science (HASS) Executive Dean, Chair of UQ Arts and Director of the UQ Art Museum to plan and implement advancement and engagement strategies that increase philanthropic support and strategic engagement opportunities to advance the objectives of UQ, the HASS Faculty and the UQ Arts program.

In this pivotal role, you will oversee and enable the strategy for advancement and engagement initiatives across the HASS Faculty in collaboration with the Associate Vice-President, Advancement (BEL & HASS) and the UQ Advancement and Community Engagement Team (ACE).

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Strategic Philanthropic Collaboration - Partner with the Executive Dean, Chair, UQ Arts and Director, UQ Art Museum in developing and advancing the Faculty's philanthropic priorities, goals, strategies and cases for support/proposals.
  • Relationship Management - Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, maintaining regular and meaningful communication and understanding and aligning their interests with opportunities to support strategic initiatives.
  • Alumni & Community Engagement - Provide leadership and guidance to initiate and deliver an engagement strategy that connects alumni, partners and the wider community with UQ Arts, working in collaboration with UQ Arts stakeholders internally.
  • Planning and Operations - Maintain donor and alumni records and manage the budget for advancement and community engagement activities within the HASS / UQ Arts portfolio to ensure maximum impact.

The position reports to the Associate Vice-President, Advancement (BEL & HASS) and collaborates closely with key internal stakeholders including the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Science (HASS) Executive Dean, Chair of UQ Arts, the Director of the UQ Art Museum and the UQ Advancement and Community Engagement Team (ACE).

About You
  • A minimum of five years of direct fundraising and engagement experience in roles that demonstrate successful outcomes, including securing significant philanthropic contributions and/or establishing impactful commercial partnerships; or an equivalent combination of relevant lived experience and/or education/training.
  • Proven ability to engage and build relationships with diverse audiences and stakeholders, effectively communicating across varying perspectives and fostering collaboration to achieve shared goals.
  • High emotional intelligence combined with excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, tact and discretion.
  • A versatile professional with the ability to think and act strategically while also effectively managing day to day operational tasks to ensure smooth execution and long term success.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritise, manage time efficiently, meet deadlines, and provide excellent support to internal and external partners while maintaining a high level of accuracy and personal integrity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to draft a range of communications for a variety of audiences, including persuasive writing and storytelling.
  • Experience using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) application.
  • A postgraduate degree in the arts / humanities, or a related field.

Desirable

  • Prior experience in higher education and/or arts industry.
