ABOUT THE POSITION – Early Childhood Teacher core duties and responsibilities
This position is responsible for providing active leadership to educators in the development, implementation and evaluation of a child-focused education and care curriculum, compliance and procedures. This position requires exceptional organisation and leadership qualities to ensure the delivery of a high-quality early learning service.:
- Design, implement, and evaluate educational programs following approved frameworks, while leading staff, supporting child development, fostering family relationships, ensuring compliance, and collaborating with the community.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can grow physically, emotionally, intellectually, and socially
- Lead, mentor, and support staff within the room to ensure a cohesive team approach
- Conduct regular observations and assessments of children’s development, maintaining accurate records and communicating progress to parents and caregivers
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the room, including compliance with health and safety standards and centre policies.
- Engage with parents and caregivers to provide updates on their child’s progress and to discuss any concerns or special needs.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities
- Work collaboratively with other room leaders and Service Management to contribute to the overall success of the centre

To ensure the delivery of a high-quality early learning service in a child-focused education and care environment, this position requires; passion for the development of young minds; experience in curriculum, compliance, and care; and a commitment to the improvement of yourself, colleagues and those within your care.
Essential
- Education Qualifications: a bachelor’s degree in early childhood teaching qualification, or equivalent as recognised by the Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA)
- Childcare Experience: Previous experience in a leadership role within an early childhood setting and a strong understanding of the EYLF, NQS, and relevant child protection legislation
- Experience in People Management: Ability to effectively lead and manage a diverse team of educators and foster a positive work environment
- Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with staff, parents, and educators. Foster a collaborative relationship with educators and parents, addressing their concerns and maintaining regular communication channels
- Health and Safety Compliance: Knowledge of health and safety protocols and promoting a culture of safety
- Personal Attributes: A passion for working with children and a commitment to providing high-quality childcare, a positive, proactive approach to problem-solving and conflict resolution, high levels of creativity, energy, and patience
Prerequisites
- first aid in an education and care setting;
- cardiopulmonary resuscitation training;
- child protection training; and
- safe sleep training
- Current registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA),
- A current Working With Children Check (WWCC) or capacity to attain one,
- A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) – no more than 6 months old,
