About the role

We are seeking an experienced chef/cook to join our team at Sappho Books, Cafe and Bar' in Glebe, NSW. In this casual role, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a range of cafe-style meals and beverages for our customers. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your skills in a fast-paced and friendly environment.

What you'll be doing

• Prepare and cook a variety of café menu items, including breakfast and lunch dishes, sandwiches, soups and salads
• Ensure all food is prepared to the highest standard of quality and presentation
• Assist with menu planning and development, contributing ideas to enhance the café's offerings
• Maintain a clean and organised kitchen workspace
• Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations
• Work collaboratively with our team to provide an exceptional customer experience

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a chef/cook in a busy café or similar food service environment
• Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Excellent time management and multitasking skills
• Attention to detail and a commitment to food safety and hygiene
• Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to take on a variety of tasks
