Bolton Street Pantry is a cafe restaurant that has built a reputation on exceptional food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a passion for quality. We are looking for a skilled and experienced Head Chef to lead our culinary team, bring creativity to the kitchen, and ensure we continue to deliver outstanding dishes to our guests.
Position Overview:
As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen, leading and managing a team of chefs and kitchen staff, and ensuring the preparation of dishes. You will work closely with the management team to maintain consistent food quality, control food costs, and ensure the kitchen operates efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Staff Management:
- Lead, motivate, and manage the kitchen team, ensuring a positive work environment and high performance.
- Train and develop kitchen staff, ensuring they are knowledgeable in food safety standards, cooking techniques, and menu items.
- Delegate tasks efficiently, ensuring that kitchen staff works cohesively and meets restaurant standards.
Menu Planning & Development:
- Collaborate with management to create, innovate, and update menus with new dishes while maintaining seasonal relevance.
- Ensure that all dishes meet the restaurant's standards for quality, taste, presentation, and portion control.
Quality Control:
- Monitor the preparation and presentation of all dishes to ensure consistent quality.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and adherence to health and safety regulations.
Inventory & Ordering:
- Oversee the ordering of kitchen supplies, ensuring proper stock levels and minimizing waste.
Cost Control:
- Manage food costs, portion control, and waste, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Follow budgets and financial records related to food and labor costs.
Health & Safety Compliance:
- Ensure the kitchen meets health and safety standards, including cleanliness, proper food storage, and safe working conditions.
- Oversee the proper handling of food and cleanliness of the kitchen according to food safety regulations.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure timely delivery of orders and customer satisfaction.
- Address any customer complaints related to food quality and work to resolve issues promptly.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Proven experience in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety, and health regulations.
- Excellent communication, and team management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for food and creativity in the kitchen.
- Availability to work weekends, and holidays as required.
