The Role

We are seeking a highly organised part-time Bookkeeper (Accounts Officer) to be the “go-to” person for all bookkeeping activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bookkeeping, be self-motivated, excel at multi-tasking and be capable of working independently.

This is a permanent part-time position (3 days or 4 shorter days per week) that offers flexibility with working hours and location. You will work closely with senior management and report directly to the Head of Finance.

  • Flexible working arrangements: WFH or Sydney City office
  • Attractive salary: $80,000 - $85,000 + super (prorated)
  • Work within a close-knit and collaborative team
  • Availability to start ASAP

Please note: This role would not be suitable for a freelance bookkeeper with other clients.

Responsibilities

This is a productive and diverse role, with a core focus on managing all bookkeeping activities, including:

  • Accounts Payable: Raising orders, entering invoices, receiving goods, reconciling statements, filing, and liaising with suppliers
  • Accounts Receivable: Entering orders, issuing invoices, processing bank statements, allocating payments, reconciliations, and maintaining the ledger
  • Bank Reconciliation: Regularly reconciling bank accounts
  • Payroll: Handling payroll responsibilities
  • ATO Requirements: Preparing payroll tax, PAYG, BAS, and GST submissions
  • Reports: Generating ad-hoc reports for senior management
  • Internal and External Queries: Addressing inquiries related to finances
  • Accounting Support: Assisting the management team with any accounting needs

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • 5+ years of bookkeeping and finance support experience
  • Qualification in bookkeeping or accounting/finance-related (desired)
  • High proficiency in Xero is essential, along with experience using Excel and MS Office
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • High attention to detail and accuracy with a proactive attitude
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience working for a Professional Services (IT&T) and/or SaaS organisation (desired)
