About the Role:
As a Senior Technical Engineer, you will play a critical role in facilitating sustainable exploration and development of petroleum and geothermal resources in Queensland.
You will conduct technical assessments of petroleum tenure applications, including projects related to exploration, production, pipeline licensing, and geothermal exploration. This role involves providing expert advice, analysing industry trends, and supporting regulatory processes to optimise resource development opportunities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
• Provide up-to-date advice to the Director and Petroleum Engineer Team Leader to support proactive resource development across Queensland.
• Identify and analyse trends in the petroleum industry to assess their impact on project development.
• Review industry publications and prospectus reports on oil and gas development and provide strategic advice to management.
• Offer timely input on Environmental Impact Statements and Development Plans to optimise petroleum development.
• Ensure accurate collection and publication of petroleum industry data and statistics in Queensland.
• Liaise with petroleum clients and industry bodies to foster strong partnerships between government and stakeholders.
• Represent the department at industry seminars, workshops, conferences, and educational initiatives.
• Engage with government agencies, industry, and public interest groups on geological and petroleum development matters, when directed.
• Provide technical support and advice to the Petroleum Engineering Team Leader, Director, Petroleum Registrars, and PAH team members.
• Conduct petroleum engineering assessments for work programs, development plans, and operational requirements for petroleum and geothermal exploration and development.
• Enhance access to the department's petroleum and geoscience resources, promoting products and services at key industry events.

About You

You have experience in regulatory compliance, technical analysis, and resource development, with the ability to interpret industry trends and provide strategic advice. Strong communication skills and a commitment to accuracy, data integrity, and continuous improvement are essential.
