About the Role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Development Engineer to join a dynamic team within a progressive local government authority. This position plays a pivotal role in assessing and managing development applications, ensuring compliance with relevant planning and engineering standards, and contributing to the sustainable growth of the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and provide recommendations on development applications, ensuring compliance with engineering and planning requirements.
  • Review and evaluate engineering plans, stormwater management systems, and infrastructure designs.
  • Provide expert technical advice to internal and external stakeholders, including developers, consultants, and community members.
  • Liaise with various departments to ensure coordinated and efficient development assessment processes.
  • Contribute to policy development, guidelines, and best practice frameworks for development engineering.
  • Conduct site inspections to verify compliance with approved plans and conditions.
  • Manage and assess Section 7.11 and 7.12 contributions in line with statutory obligations.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to junior engineers and technical staff.

Key Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in development engineering within local government or private sector.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, planning instruments, and engineering standards.
  • Proven ability to assess development applications and provide clear recommendations.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to negotiate and influence outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Current Class C Driver's License.
