To maintain fleet efficiency, compliance, and operational excellence, we are seeking a Fleet Manager to oversee vehicle acquisition, leasing, maintenance, and compliance while ensuring our fleet remains in peak condition.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet Maintenance & Safety

• Develop and oversee preventative maintenance programs to ensure the fleet remains in optimal condition and compliant with safety regulations.

• Coordinate scheduled servicing, inspections, and emergency repairs to minimise downtime and maintain operational efficiency.

• Ensure compliance with transport industry regulations, licensing, and insurance requirements to keep all fleet vehicles legally operational.

• Monitor vehicle usage and wear to optimise performance and lifespan.

Vehicle Acquisition & Disposal

• Organise and control the buying and selling of vehicles to maintain an efficient and cost-effective fleet.

• Assess fleet needs based on demand, business growth, and operational efficiency, recommending vehicle upgrades or replacements as necessary.

• Negotiate with suppliers and dealerships to secure competitive pricing and favourable leasing or purchase agreements.

• Oversee the disposal of outdated or underutilised vehicles to maximise return on investment.

Vehicle Leasing & Rentals

• Coordinate the leasing of vehicles to third-party businesses and individuals for mail delivery, logistics, and DIY removal services.

• Ensure all rental and leasing agreements comply with company policies and industry standards.

• Monitor rental vehicle performance and address customer concerns related to maintenance and safety.

• Work closely with clients to provide tailored rental solutions, ensuring customer satisfaction and repeat business.

Operational Management & Cost Control

• Develop cost-saving strategies for fleet maintenance, procurement, and operations without compromising safety or efficiency.

• Maintain accurate records of fleet performance, maintenance schedules, leasing agreements, and financial reports.

• Liaise with drivers, mechanics, and service providers to ensure smooth fleet operations and resolve maintenance issues promptly.

• Supervise and train fleet staff, ensuring adherence to company policies and best practices.

To succeed in this role, you should have:

• A Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Graduate Diploma in Management.

• Proven experience in fleet maintenance, transport logistics, or vehicle leasing management.

• Strong knowledge of heavy vehicle maintenance, compliance, and safety regulations.

• Ability to manage budgets, negotiate supplier contracts, and implement fleet optimisation strategies.

• At least 1 year experience in the role of a Fleet Manager.

• Excellent problem-solving skills, with experience in fleet performance analysis and asset management.

• Excellent communication and leadership skills to liaise with drivers, clients, and service providers.
