Senior Server Hardware and Virtualisation Engineer

Location: Sydney, NSW (Hybrid – Castle Hill, CBD, or WFH)
Contract: 6 months (Immediate Start)

Sedha Consulting is seeking a Senior Server Hardware and Virtualisation Engineer for our client in the healthcare industry. This role will support infrastructure stability and performance, with a strong emphasis on VMware infrastructure, hardware maintenance, and data centre asset management.

Key Responsibilities:

• VMware Infrastructure: Manage and optimize VMware environments to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
• Fabric Technology: Understanding of VMFS volumes, vSAN, datastore LUN Mapping, and presentation on ESXi. Understanding of Block and NFS storage.
• Hardware Maintenance (Operational): Perform proactive and reactive maintenance on servers, chassis, and blade technologies.
• DC Asset Maintenance: Oversee the tracking, maintenance, and lifecycle management of data centre assets.
• Storage Technology: Implement and manage storage solutions, including array-based storage and VMware vSAN.
• Windows/Linux Server Builds: Deploy and manage Windows/Linux servers with a strong understanding of Active Directory (AD) and DNS.
• Understanding of Virtual Networking: vLCM, vROPs, or vRA knowledge will be beneficial (not mandatory).
• Operational BAU Support & Project Delivery: Be comfortable providing operational BAU support for our Infra technologies as well as delivering projects.
• Team Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: Be a team player, willing to share knowledge and cross-skill with peers.
• Continuous Improvement & Ownership: Take ownership of tasks and be driven to continuously improve services.
• Ensure compliance with IT security policies and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to ensure seamless operations.
• Provide after-hours support as required.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Minimum 4 years of experience with chassis and blade server technologies.
• Extensive expertise in VMware virtualisation technologies.
• Strong understanding of storage and fabric technologies.
• Experience with large WAN & LAN deployments, enterprise environments, and ROBO sites.
• Familiarity with Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies and ITIL processes (change/service/capacity management).
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
