Our client is a privately owned Australian Freight Transport Company founded in 2008 which specialises in road transport services, wharf cartage and container handling, as well as warehousing and distribution. Due to rapid expansion, we are seeking an experienced Fleet Allocator for our Tottenham Depot working Afternoon Shift 2.00pm – 10.00pm Monday – Friday in a permanent capacity.
About the Role
Working in an autonomous position and reporting into the Operations Manager, in this 24-hour 5 day a week operation, the primary objective of the role is to allocate and schedule all fleet, ensuring strict delivery deadlines are adhered to and prioritising and improving performance and efficiencies of the logistics operations and supply chain channels all whilst holding a high level of customer service.
You will be working in a very clean and professional environment and be using the latest Freighttracker transport management system technology managing an 12-20 strong prime mover fleet.
Core responsibilities
- Plan and allocate pick-ups and deliveries to achieve efficient and effective transport to and from the wharf and depot to the customer.
- Prioritise fleet workloads and optimising fleet utilisation in evaluating the day ahead.
- Monitor driver location and run activity to assist with job allocation and planning
- Developing and maintaining excellent relationships and rapport with all staff and drivers
- Ensuring the highest level of customer services is provided to customers
Skills and experience
- Must have wharf transport experience in supervising, fleet controlling or allocating.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Work autonomously with ease and thrives in pressure situations
- Reliable and trustworthy by nature
- Experience in the transport and logistics industry, wharf cartage and distribution would be advantage but happy train up experienced fleet controllers from other transport sectors
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Solid and accurate data entry skills
- Exceptional customer service
