Our client is a very successful large fruit & vegetable wholesaler supplying to over 100 independent supermarkets across Victoria. Founded in 2003, and based at the Melbourne Markets in Epping, our client aims to provide their customers with the freshest produce available, by purchasing from quality assured growers and merchants.

Our client understands the value of maintaining and developing a loyal customer base. That is why they are always looking for ways to improve their service and offer a flexible approach to catering for all requirements, whether produce is needed in small volume or large amounts.

Due to increased expansion, they are seeking an experienced Warehouse Supervisor -2IC for their Epping distribution facility, working Night Shift Sun/Tues/Thurs 8.00pm start – Mon/Wed12.00pm start times till finish (Usually between 6.00/7.00am) in a permanent – full time capacity.

About the Role

Reporting into the Warehouse Manager, as the Warehouse Supervisor/2IC you will manage, oversee, and coordinate all daily warehouse activities, ensure efficient processes, and maximise warehouse productivity.

Your responsibilities include but not limited to supporting supervision of employees, coordinating logistical processes, ensuring the quality of goods, and preparing relevant documentation.

You will implement production, productivity, quality, and standards and achieve the appropriate level of volume within time limits.

You will optimise warehousing processes, be an effective team leader and be dependable and have excellent organisational and time management skills.

You should be able to ensure that daily operations are met and exceed daily performance.

As an outstanding Warehouse Supervisor/2IC you will lead by example, be very hands on adhere to all warehouse safety practices be an all-rounder who possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills as you ultimately play an important role in the business's success.

Core responsibilities

  • Working closely with the Warehouse Manager in supporting, supervising of warehouse staff and daily activities
  • Managing, evaluating, supporting, and reporting on warehouse productivity
  • Tracking and coordinating the receipt, storage, and timely delivery of goods and materials
  • Ordering supplies and maintaining suitable inventory levels
  • Checking orders, bills, items received, inventory, and deliveries for accuracy.
  • Maintaining records, reporting relevant information, and preparing any necessary documentation
  • Ensuring maintenance standards and compliance with health and safety regulations
  • As required, being willing and able to pick and pack orders of produce in accordance with customers’ requirements.
  • Inspecting of produce for any damages or discrepancies
  • Maintaining an accurate record of all produce received and distributed.
  • Preparing and checking shipment documents
  • Perform material handling tasks in the warehouse using forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy warehouse area
  • Demonstrating a high level of safety and process compliance at all times

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience as a Warehouse Supervisor
  • Proven ability to work Night Shift - Sun/Tues/Thurs 8.00pm start – Mon/Wed12.00pm start times till finish (Usually between 6.00/7.00am
  • Proven ability to manage people and teams in a blue-collar environment.
  • Must have a valid Forklift licence.
  • Shows initiative and hands-on commitment to getting the job done.
  • Strong working knowledge of warehouse operations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, data entry software warehouse management software
  • The ability to make decisions, problem solve, prioritise assignments and direct the workforce in a fast-paced warehouse environment
  • Must have strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Positive, up-beat “can-do” attitude
  • High degree of safety focus and solid understanding of OHS regulations, principles, and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy by nature
