The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is seeking casual Retail Assistants to provide high-level customer service to all NGV design store patrons and ensure the NGV design stores are maintained to the highest standard of presentation and cleanliness.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
You will work with the broader Audience Engagement teams and all NGV teams to ensure a seamless and consistent visitor experience. You will be responsible for providing service excellence to all internal and external NGV design store customers in all areas of retail operations. This includes greeting and acknowledging customers and engaging and providing accurate information. Other key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Professionally operating computerised point of sale system and stock database system, processing sales precisely and undertaking the reconciliation of daily takings and completion of associated documentation.
- Responding to all customer enquiries, including face-to-face, telephone and email. Processing mail orders, special orders, internet orders and assisting with stock transfer procedures in a timely and accurate manner.
- Monitoring floor stock and replenishing as appropriate. Ensuring displays are well maintained and assisting with shop changeovers and visual merchandising as directed.
- Taking responsibility for the opening and closing procedures, customer refunds and exchanges and general daily running of the shop floor.
To be successful you will have relevant retail experience using a retail POS system. You will have a demonstrated understanding and commitment to the delivery of high quality customer service coupled with a proven sensitivity to the requirements of diverse audiences and an ease with assisting people with disabilities. You are committed to delivering high quality outcomes for patrons and actively seeking to meet their needs. You will have demonstrated teamwork skills being able to collaborate, share information, cooperate and work well with others in pursuit of team goals.
Knowledge of the visual arts is highly advantageous.
