The Opportunity

Join our team at Monash University as a Senior Counsellor and play a pivotal role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our university community. As a Senior Counsellor, you will be a registered psychologist and will provide expert confidential psychological counselling, lead mental health literacy programs, and deliver essential psychological services. Your expertise will be crucial in responding to urgent mental health needs, supervising clinical placement students, and offering professional leadership within the university's health services.

You will be responsible for providing individual one-on-one counselling, prioritising urgent counselling sessions, and offering practical advice to senior management on complex psychological matters. Additionally, you’ll contribute to the development and delivery of evidence-based mental health programs and training initiatives, directly impacting the wellbeing of students and staff. Your role will also involve managing confidential records, maintaining partnerships with key stakeholders, and supporting the university’s risk management and crisis response efforts.

To ensure your success in this position, you will demonstrate considerable expertise in the field of psychology and counselling, along with a relevant qualification and registration with AHPRA. You will have experience working clinically with a range of evidence based psychological interventions that demonstrate efficacy in a short-term clinical work context, and substantial experience and knowledge of community mental health services and referral procedures.
