The Director of Counselling Services leads, manages, and develops Haileybury’s team of Psychologists across all campuses, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, student-focused psychological services that meet and exceed required standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Psychologists, fostering a collaborative and professional environment.
- Provide direct psychological support to students, including individual counselling, case management, and referrals to external providers.
- Develop, implement, and review Student Wellbeing and counselling policies, procedures, and systems.
- Design and deliver proactive and preventative mental health programs to enhance student resilience and connectedness.
- Attend parent/teacher meetings and Pastoral Care meetings as required.
- Facilitate wellbeing programs and materials for the broader school community.
- Collaborate on student assessments and contribute to funding and special provisions applications.
- Provide high-level reports and data analysis to senior management, including identifying high-risk cases and tracking trends in psychological service usage.
- The Director of Counselling Services and the Psychologists are the School’s Child Safety and Wellbeing Officers.
They are responsible for assisting and advising on child safety and wellbeing matters and are the first points of contact for raising child safety matters.
Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders using excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required
- Strong commitment to providing safe, high-quality care using a client-centred approach
- Strong computer skills with sound knowledge of Microsoft applications and the ability to interpret data and write reports
- Strong commitment to confidentiality and maintaining privacy of all students intact
- Ability to manage pastoral issues through effective dialogue and process.
Desirable
- Experience of working with children from a culturally and/or linguistically diverse background
- Previous experience working at a school.
Academic qualifications
- Masters Degree in Psychology (accredited)
- Full registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency).
