What you'll be doing

  • The Senior Rehabilitation Speech Pathologist will be required to provide a high standard of evidence-based speech pathology assessment and treatment of adults with neurogenic impairment.
  • This position covers both inpatients and outpatients and includes servicing the Motor Neurone Disease clinic.
  • This position is part of the wider Speech Pathology team and may be required to assist with the provision of Speech Pathology services to other areas of the hospital.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualification: Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology that provides eligibility for full membership to Speech Pathology Australia.


Selection Criteria

  1. Bachelor or Post-graduate Degree in Speech Pathology that provides eligibility for full membership to Speech Pathology Australia.
  2. Extensive clinical experience and demonstrated competency in evidence-based assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing impairment in an adult neurogenic caseload.
  3. Experience or interest in developing knowledge and skills in the management of those with progressive neurological conditions primarily Motor Neurone Disease.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of high-tech Augmentative and Alternate Communication.
  5. Excellent communication skills, time management and organisational skills.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with limited supervision, apply independent professional judgement and high-level clinical reasoning skills, whilst working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to professional development and experience in leading and developing quality improvement initiatives and implementing evidence-based practice.
  8. Demonstrated experience and skill in clinical supervision and teaching of staff and/or students.
