Your Opportunity

Joining our Strategy & Enablement group, you’ll work within a team that provides strategic priorities and governance for Energy Queensland’s planning processes, driving the improved performance across the portfolio. The team collaborate well and have a positive reputation within the business for delivering and facilitating key strategic projects. They are agile and dynamic, and are highly engaged.

As our Strategy & Performance Lead, internally known as Strategy Planning & Performance Lead, your ability to deliver strategic projects will be key to Energy Queensland’s continued success and growth.

As the name suggests, you will be heavily involved in strategic planning, the development of the corporate business plan and overseeing the overall performance of Energy Queensland and divisional performance. You will provide input into corporate reporting and analytics, and driving strategic initiatives. .

Based at one of our offices across Queensland, no two days will look the same. This role is dynamic and provides a great deal of variety. Typical responsibilities and areas of focus will see you:

  • Influence, develop, and deliver key activities such as strategic and business planning, performance reporting, and project management for business improvements initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the business and undertake analysis before providing advice to senior and executive leadership.
  • Lead business initiatives, coordinating and leading forums and workshop, and workforce and financial planning.

With either a 9 or 10 day fortnight in place, the bottom of the salary band starts from $184,805 for 9 days and $208,826 for 10 days + 14.75% superannuation.

What You’ll Bring

You will either hold a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, Commerce, Economics, or a related discipline, or have equivalent relevant experience. You may hold post-graduate qualifications in the aforementioned disciplines or project management, but this is not essential.

Critical to your success in this role comes down to your transferrable technical and soft skills.

Some of your technical knowledge and skills include:

  • Demonstrated expert operational knowledge and skills in project management and delivery, working to relevant time and budget constraints. You can assist with solving complex business problems to support project deliverables. You will have experience leading projects revolving around business process improvement.
  • Skilled in writing and producing high quality reporting documentation to explain complex concepts into easily understandable material tailored to your relevant audience. Your audience for these reports could be for the Board, Senior Leadership, or Government.
  • Strong understanding and relevant knowledge of the business planning process, regulatory funding process, and stakeholder management.
  • Running and leading workshops for business process improvement and strategic planning.

When it comes to your soft skills, you are:

  • An expert in building relationships and using your well-developed communication skills to influence, negotiate, and consult with a range of different stakeholders.
  • A critical thinker, and can understand and identify strategic opportunities by synthesising complex information and making recommendations.
