The Domestic and Family Violence Child Protection Practitioner key responsibilities are:
- Represent Child Safety within a multi-agency, place based High Risk Team ensuring appropriate information sharing that facilitates comprehensive risk assessment, safety planning and risk management in accordance with the Domestic and Family Violence Common Risk and Safety Framework, and agency policies and procedures. This will be achieved through the provision of advice regarding evidence-based case management practices, formulation of risk management actions, sharing of relevant information, and ensuring a shared understanding of responsibilities.
- Provide expert advice and support to the High Risk Team members to understand their roles and responsibilities in ensuring vulnerable children and young people are protected from harm and to make confident and informed decisions in accordance with the Child Protection Act 1999 and the Child Protection Guide about reporting to Child Safety or referring families to support services.
- Contribute productively as Child Safety's representative on high risk cases and ensure actions identified at the High Risk Team meeting are, where applicable, implemented by Child Safety in a timely way. Provide report back on actions taken by Child Safety where applicable.
- Demonstrate strategic insight, collaboration and leadership within the complex authorising environment of the High Risk multidisciplinary team, to maximise the integration of service delivery to families.
- Establish and maintain productive multiagency working relationships that promote collaboration, integrated responses to domestic and family violence cases on the High Risk Team and a shared responsibility for improving the safety of victims and where applicable, their children and holding perpetrators to account.
- Support organisational implementation of, and participation in, regional integrated services responses to DFV, including through improved uptake and awareness of relevant frameworks, guidelines and professional tools such as the CRASF.
- Actively participate in and facilitate the implementation and operationalisation of regional DFV Integrated Service Responses and HRTs.
- Participate in and contribute to a culture of continuous learning, training and professional development to promote contemporary best practice in both child protection and domestic and family violence prevention.
- Provide DFV expertise to internal regional staff, through participation in case consultations, training, resource development, and specialist advice.
- Positively contribute to a workplace and HRT culture that prioritises culturally safe and appropriate engagement with peoples from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds and demonstrates an understanding of the impacts of colonisation and historical policies and practices.
- Facilitate effective multidisciplinary collaboration, advocate for the needs of children and young people, and ensure relationships are maintained.
- Manage, prioritise and complete (to deadline) role specific administrative tasks to support participation in the HRTs, such as completing RFI's, completing case notes, and ensuring accurate record-keeping across multiple data management systems.
Applications to remain current for 12 months.
