About the role

AMB Earthworks is seeking a skilled Plant Mechanic/Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Tamworth, NSW. This is a full-time position responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of heavy machinery and vehicles. As a key member of our operations, you will play a vital role in ensuring our equipment remains in optimal condition to support the delivery of our construction and earthmoving projects.

What you'll be doing

• Conduct scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on a range of plant equipment, including excavators, loaders, trucks, and other heavy machinery
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults on machinery
• Perform routine safety checks and identify any needed repairs or replacements
• Maintain detailed records of all work completed
• Work closely with the operations team to minimise equipment downtime
• Provide technical guidance and support to other members of the maintenance team

What we're looking for

• Relevant trade qualification in Automotive/Diesel Mechanics or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated experience as a Plant or Diesel Mechanic, preferably in the construction or earthworks industry
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills to quickly identify and resolve issues
• Excellent mechanical aptitude and hands-on practical skills
• Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine systems
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Current driver's licence and ability to operate heavy machinery
