About the opportunity

The Yard Hand reports to the Factory Manager and is part of the manufacturing team. The key focus of this role is to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of the yard by organising, handling and transporting various steel products as a team and ensuring safety. More specifically, you will:

• Ensure delivery of quality goods, both internally and externally
• Operate various forklifts and safely load, unload and move steel products, upholding safety guidelines and handling materials with care
• Supply customer orders in full
• Ensure work is carried out efficiently, on time to specification and to the correct location
• Efficient movement and layout of product within the work environment
• Picking and preparing loads and completing required documentation
• Assist with stock control and stock take process
• Assist in assessing load sizes and numbers for transport
• Assist with maintaining quality control and identify product defects
• Other reasonable duties as directed

About you

You will share a passion for our purpose and be aligned to our core values; better together, be accountable, people matter and think bigger. In addition, you will:

• Excellent work ethic, honest, reliable and punctual
• Physically fit to perform manual handling tasks and withstand extended period of standing and walking
• Strong communication and organisation skills
• Demonstrated experience in loading and despatching of trucks
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritise tasks
• Ability to work independently, as well as contribute as a team member
• Current driver's license and reliable transport
• Forklift licence for 5 tonne capacity
• Available to work Monday - Friday and occasional Saturdays, 38 hours a week
