KSC Claims is looking for an Experienced DVA Advocate.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
KSC Claims is expanding! Due to growing demand from Australian veterans, we’re looking for DVA Advocates to support veterans navigating the DVA claims process. This role is pivotal in ensuring veterans receive the care, respect, and advocacy they deserve.
As a DVA Advocate, you will be a trusted guide, helping veterans through intricate claim processes with professionalism, empathy, and unwavering support. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure each claim is handled with diligence and care.
Those with prior work experience in the Australian Defence Force (ADF), The Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) or, Qualified as a level 1,2,3 or 4 Advocate under the ATDP or legal practitioners will be considered favourably.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of DVA claims for the veterans full life cycle
- Interpret legislation and prepare comprehensive claims for clients
- Build strong relationships with veterans, understanding their unique circumstances and needs
- Provide clear explanations of complex DVA processes and entitlements
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all veteran interactions and claim progress
- Stay current with DVA legislation, policies, and procedures
Requirements or preferred experience
- Experience in DVA claims advocacy and/or representation
- Thorough knowledge of relevant legislation including the VEA, MRCA, and DRCA
- Demonstrated complex problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective case management skills in a high-volume work environment
- Proven ability to follow process, policy, legislation and maintain confidentiality
- Demonstrated effective written communication and interpersonal skills in working directly with Veterans and their families
- Quick learner with excellent feedback acceptance
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and empathy for clients is essential
- A team member who will uphold our values and complement our culture and way of working
- An understanding of the defence community and its unique challenges is desirable
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
