QPTS is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Scraper Technician to join our team. This full-time role offers an hourly rate of $60. As a Scraper Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of conveyor belt scrapers in the mining industry. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with mechanical expertise and a commitment to safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and servicing of conveyor belt scrapers.
  • Clean, adjust, and maintain primary and secondary cleaners, ploughs, and water control units.
  • Inspect conveyor belts to identify faults, wear, and damage.
  • Adjust scraper heights to prevent damage to the conveyor belts.
  • Inspect the conveyor axis and recommend appropriate actions where necessary.
  • Identify and maintain different types of scrapers.
  • Troubleshoot, install, and commission new equipment as required.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure machinery meets the company’s standards.
  • Use hand and power tools safely for maintenance tasks.
  • Provide technical advice to enhance product performance.

Key Outcomes:

  • Lead safety initiatives and ensure adherence to QPTS and client HSE management systems to ensure zero safety incidents.
  • Foster effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, proactively managing expectations.
  • Contribute to strategic decision-making and planning to support business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Follow documented procedures and instructions to maintain service process integrity.
  • Report directly to the Work Supervisor and complete tasks as directed.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Conveyor Belt Technician or Mechanical Maintenance Fitter, ideally in a mining environment.
  • Strong knowledge of conveyor belt systems and associated components such as belt cleaners, skirting systems, and belt tracking.
  • Valid working at heights and confined spaces tickets.
  • Proven experience performing routine inspections and submitting reports.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a practical, solutions-oriented approach.
  • Self-motivated and able to work well in a team environment.
  • A solid commitment to safety and quality, with proven results.
  • A current manual driver’s license.
