The Department for Child protection is seeking a Practice Leader, Mental Health to join on a full-time ongoing basis.

The role is responsible for:

  • Providing expertise to the Lead Psychiatric Director to support the delivery of Complex Case Review Meetings.
  • Driving practice excellence to achieve improved outcomes for children and young people, their families and carers.
  • Liaising with mental health services in relation to complex children, young people and their families in consultation with Office staff.
  • Coordinating the implementation of sensitive, innovative and complex strategies that impact on service wide operations.

About You
We are looking for a leader with significant experience in providing high quality evidenced based mental health interventions to children, young people, their families and carers.

Our ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of child protection issues, systems, and their connection to mental health.

Proven high quality interpersonal and communication skills including legally defensible writing is essential.

Success in this role requires fostering a professional learning environment through workplace training, mentoring, coaching, and collaboration with staff.

Special Conditions
Essential Qualifications: An appropriate degree or equivalent qualification in either Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Psychology, with appropriate mental health qualifications which entitles registration or membership with the relevant board or association.

All requirements to maintain registration or membership must be fulfilled.

Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).
