Are you passionate about making a difference in the mental health and disability sectors? Vertaview Group is looking for a dedicated Practice Specialist – Mental Health & Rights to join our team! In this role, you’ll provide expert clinical and practice advice, drive high-quality care outcomes, and advocate for the rights of people living with mental health challenges. This role is permanent, full-time and based in our Eight Mile Plains location.

About the Role:

As a Practice Specialist – Mental Health & Rights, you'll be at the forefront of shaping our services to be clinically sound, culturally safe, and person-centred. Your expertise will drive mental health advocacy, focusing on conducting psychological assessments and designing evidence-based interventions. You'll also create training materials to upskill Support Workers in recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care for individuals with complex mental health needs.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the development and implementation of mental health frameworks, ensuring they align with the latest evidence-based practices.
  • Conduct systematic Clinical Quality Evaluations and comprehensive assessments to identify emerging risks and provide evidence-based recommendations for improvement.
  • Promote a holistic approach to mental health care, aligning with the Social Model of Disability and focusing on social determinants of health and wellbeing.
  • Deliver training on Human Rights, health advocacy, and the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities (UNCRPD).
  • Provide specialist advice on practice improvement and represent the Practice Excellence Framework in both internal and external forums.
  • Use evidence-based practices to guide the creation of procedures, work instructions, and training materials, and implement across the organisation.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Extensive experience in delivering clinical mental health care, with a strong background in training staff and disability support workers.
  • Knowledge of the UNCRPD, Human Rights, and the Social Model of Disability, with practical experience integrating these principles into clinical practice.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and manage competing deadlines.
  • Exceptional organisational and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on safeguarding and continuous practice improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage diverse teams and communicate effectively with varied audiences.
  • Experience with electronic health records and relevant systems.
  • Lived experience of Disability or Mental Health is a plus.

What experience will help you be successful?

  • Demonstrated experience and strong knowledge of current legislation, policy, and practice standards in health, disability, mental health, or related fields.
  • Practical experience in delivering clinical healthcare and providing training to staff or disability support workers.
  • Strong knowledge of the UNCRPD, Human Rights, and the Social Model of Disability, with experience in delivering clinical care.

What do you need to apply?

  • Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant allied health field, with current membership/registration with AHPRA or the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • A current QLD Driver’s Licence
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (Yellow Card)– or be willing to obtain.
  • Working with Children Check (Blue card) – or be willing to obtain.
