Transport Services is a Division the Department of Transport & Planning, and is responsible for delivering safe, reliable and accessible transport infrastructure and services to all Victorians. The Metropolitan Transport Division maintains and renews existing assets and plans, develops and delivers upgrades to the metropolitan road network, pedestrian, cycling, bus and tram infrastructure. We manage the metropolitan bus contracts, overseeing operator performance and asset management. The Metropolitan Roads Capital Delivery branch leads the delivery of capital projects across the Victorian metropolitan road network.

About the Role
Full time - Ongoing
The Statutory Planner will utilise their extensive knowledge in road access planning to provide written responses to planning permit applications affecting the operation of the arterial road and public transport network of various complexities and supports other Statutory Planners in the review of such applications.

Position Outcomes
- Under broad supervision delivers written responses to planning permit applications for land use developments affecting the operation of the arterial road and public transport network
- Represents DTP in discussions with internal and external stakeholders on planning matters
- Under broad supervision, prepares submissions to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) and planning panels
- Assesses and provide written and verbal advice on utility work proposals against proposals for future road works and public transport upgrades
- Prepares and maintains reporting and performance measures by timely completion of tasks and updating of record management systems
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA - As a Statutory Planner, you will exercise professional judgement in the application of statutory planning processes and DTP policies while responding to planning referrals, inquiries and proposed planning scheme amendments. You will communicate effectively with stakeholders, peers, and professional teams, ensuring smooth collaboration. You will contribute to the preparation of submissions for VCAT and Panel hearings and demonstrate the ability to draft quality correspondence, reports, and briefs. You will proactively identify planning and organising issues that may impact outcomes and escalate them appropriately. Additionally, you will contribute effectively to team meetings, discussions, and activities
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Desirable
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant or a related discipline.
- Driver's license.
