Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 per year
Established in 1957, Keppel Bay Sailing Club began with a group of dedicated sailors and volunteers who had a passion for sailing and for the community in which they lived. In 1961, the members agreed it was time to establish a permanent clubhouse and were offered the old skate rink and dance hall, formally located on the existing Clubhouse site. Today KBSC operates from four venues, The Clubhouse, The Spinnaker, Kracker’s Bar & Grill, Club Emu Park.
About the role: As a Cook, your main responsibilities include:
- Prepare meals that cater to dietary needs of customers, ensuring proper preparation and presentation.
- Monitor and control the temperatures of cooking equipment, including ovens, grills, and fryers.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient operations, especially during peak service times.
- Inspect food items to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
- Store food and ingredients in appropriate temperature-controlled environments to preserve freshness.
- Season and adjust flavours during cooking to achieve optimal taste and quality.
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen, ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety standards.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff and apprentices, teaching culinary techniques and safety protocols.
- Prepare and cook a wide range of dishes, following recipes and employing various cooking methods.
- Portion meals accurately, arrange them on plates, and garnish with sauces, and other decorative elements.
- Assist in menu planning and estimate the amount of food required based on customer volume and preferences.
- Minimise food waste by efficiently managing ingredients and reducing unnecessary loss.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have one of the following:
- AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training or AQF Certificate IV; or
- At least three (3) years of relevant experience
Suitable candidates will
- Have a strong background in working kitchens
- Able to contribute productively to assist in delivering successful small, medium and large functions and events and a busy Bistro and Café (7-day operation)
- Be passionate about hospitality and strive to deliver a best-in-class customer service
- Be reliable, optimistic and have a proven record of working successfully in a high paced kitchen team
