Alcove Cafe and Deli started in July 2012 in Wilston. We are focused on bringing together the best local flavours from Southeast Queensland — mainly from the Sunshine Coast to the Gold Coast.

We are looking for an experienced Cook to join our fabulous team. If you are passionate about cooking exceptional food and have a welcoming spirit, you will be perfect for the role.

About the role:

As a Cook in our company, you will be reporting to the Chef / Head Chef and responsible for effectively assisting in the kitchen operations to effectively deliver a high-quality service to our customers. The key responsibilities are as follows but are not limited to:

• Ensuring that all food is cooked properly and served in a timely manner and that is presented correctly.
• Able to handle equipment, appliances, small wares, supplies and tools effectively and as per requirements.
• Responsible for food portion control, wastage management and stock purchase (receipt and storage)
• Following cleaning schedules and cleaning all equipment and work areas.
• Strictly follow sanitation guidelines and safety procedures
• Ensure consistent and smooth running of food preparation.
• Ability to manage temperature checks, cleaning charts and food freshness.
• Assist Chef/Head Chef in food preparation and as needs arise.
• Estimate the food requirement and monitor the quality and quantity.
• Food preparation and cooking, plating, and presentation.
• Train new staff if required.

About You:

Successful candidates will have the following.

• Minimum one to two years of experience in a busy cafe
• Qualification (Cert III/IV in Commercial Cookery)
• Efficient, effective, and organized
• Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
• High standard of food and personal hygiene
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details:

Type- Full time, Permanent

Salary- AUD 74,000 per year plus superannuation.
