Position Summary:

The Assistant Accountant is a vital member of the finance team, responsible for supporting the organisation’s accounting functions. This includes processing invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, assisting with collections, and performing reconciliations. This role will contribute to the month-end closing process, support year-end audits, and drive continuous improvement in financial processes. Additionally, the role involves assisting venues with stocktakes and related reporting to ensure inventory accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with daily reconciliations, ensuring that all transactions are accurately reflected in financial records.
• Receive and process invoices and billing statements
• Track payments and ensure accuracy of paid accounts
• Assist with general accounts payable and accounts receivable duties
• Contact clients and vendors as necessary to ensure accurate and on-time payments
• Prepare written reports for delivery to senior-level managers
• Utilise spreadsheets and database tools to assist in financial record keeping
• Assist venues with conducting stocktakes, ensuring all inventory data is accurately recorded.
• Assist with the completion of month-end, quarterly & year-end reporting including reconciliations, journal entries, and the preparation of supporting working papers.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Business, or a related field.
• Not necessary but preferred working towards the completion of CA/CPA or already certified qualification is preferred.
• 2 years minimum of accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of accounts receivable practices and financial reporting.
• Experience with high-volume transactions, reconciliations, and invoice processing.
• Experience supporting stocktakes and inventory reporting.
• Exceptional communication skills and a customer-focused approach to resolving queries.
• Ability to quickly learn and utilise industry-specific accounting tools such as MYOB.
• Working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite productivity tools
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to multitask across different types of accounting-related projects
