As a Senior Technician in Radio Network Encryption, you will have the key role of supporting the encryption of state-wide emergency services, ensuring that Victoria Police's radio communications remain secure, encrypted, and protected. Your role is essential in maintaining the integrity of mission-critical information shared across our radio network. Reporting to the Service Delivery manager, you will be working in a dynamic and agile environment, implementing, and managing encryption protocols that safeguard our communications, ensuring that Victoria Police can operate safely and effectively.

About the role:

The Senior Technician Encryption role sits within Operational Technology and is part of the Frontline Technology Domain.

Your role accountabilities will be:

  • Assist in the provision of state-wide emergency services encryption management across all Victoria Police radio devices.
  • Identify and resolve key encryption issues associated with the Victoria Police Metropolitan Mobile Radio (MMR) Network and Regional Radio Network (RMR).
  • Provide radio key encryption support to key external emergency services agencies.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to undertake regular audits of encryption key assignments and identify the scope of activity required to operationalise key encryption across all emergency services agencies.
  • Coordinate relevant implementation activities, including the approval of service requests for radio encryption.
  • Provide advice and recommendations in respect of the analysis of network performance, proposed network changes, analysis and diagnosis of system faults to improve workflows for radio encryption services.
  • Provide radio communication technical encryption services and support to the State Police Operations Centre (SPOC) including after-hours 24hr/7day.
  • Provide a technical liaison and advisory function on Radio Key encryption within other emergency services organisations throughout the State of Victoria.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to assist the onboarding of radio key encryption of external emergency service agencies onto the Victorian Radio Network.
  • Provide expert encryption advice and support to implement suitable encryption options across specialist operational units.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of radio encryption technology and specialist secure communication equipment.
  • Proficient in ServiceNow and sound knowledge of The Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Frameworks.
  • Experience working in an agile and dynamic technology environment with commercial networks LTE, Cellular and Radio.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or as a member of a team to assist with sensitive operations in a highly confidential environment.
  • Knowledge of and experience in emerging radio communication technology and large complex radio networks.
  • Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders and provide consultancy services and specialist advice on radio communications and other technical issues.
  • Relevant experience working on radio infrastructure and delivery of radio services within a large complex environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to produce correspondence and recommendations which are evidence based and provide a sound basis for decision making.
  • Proven ability to monitor client and stakeholder satisfaction, and constructively manage stakeholder issues to ensure positive outcomes for the stakeholder and the Region/Department/Command.
  • A proven record of ethical behaviour and a demonstrated commitment to the Victoria Police Code of Ethics and Conduct and the Organisational Values

Requirements and relevant information:

  • Australian Citizenship is a must. PR not sufficient.
  • 1 x full-time, ongoing position available.
  • VPSG4 salary range $95,102 - $107,905 p.a. plus superannuation.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • This position may require out-of-hours work as indicated in the Position Description relating to after hours service management issues (as attached to the advertisement).
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
