The UOW MD program reflects a contemporary approach to medical education. Medical practitioners from UOW local communities as well as and health practitioners from other health professions are extensively involved in all aspects of the MD program.

The MD aims to prepare graduates with knowledge of basic, medical and systems sciences, knowledge of Indigenous health, social and cultural determinants of health, health advocacy skills, skills for clinical practice and culturally safe patient care, and research skills. The MD also prepares graduates to meet the professional expectations, as well as legal and ethical requirements of the medical profession.

About the role:

In this role you will design, develop, implement and report educationally oriented evaluation plans and activities related to rural medical education for medical students. You will be responsible for supporting monitoring and quality improvement of rural medical education (pre-registration) through evaluation of rural medical education areas including the four-year MD program rural medical curriculum, quality of rural education site learning-teaching, quality of rural teaching/supervision, rural end-to-end medical education outcomes, as well as the rural student learning environment. In this teaching-focused position you will also contribute to teaching and assessment within the MD program, relevant to academic areas of expertise, as well as research and research supervision, and academic governance activities for the Graduate School of Medicine.

About you:

To be successful you will hold a PhD with experience in education evaluation research with a focus on areas relevant to teaching in a medical program (pre-registration). You will also have demonstrated experience in a variety of research methods, including quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods. You will have outstanding written communication skills, with the ability to produce reports of evaluation findings in a variety of formats and adapt your communication to suit different audiences. You will also have experience presenting information clearly and effectively to academic staff, clinicians, and students.
