Thrive Clinical Nurse Consultant / Program Coordinator

A NEW opportunity has opened at the Royal Women's Hospital as part of our fertility preservation program, with the generosity of two visionary children's organisations - the Children's Cancer Foundation and My Room Children's Cancer Charity. This new landmark national fertility preservation service has been established at the Women's supporting children with cancer, this initiative focuses on three key pillars to be delivered over the next five years:

  • Education and training to support national service provision.
  • A national ovarian and testicular tissue transport and cryopreservation service to expand access to fertility preservation.
  • Research and development of cutting-edge technologies to improve fertility preservation outcomes for young cancer survivors.

About Reproductive Services Unit

The Reproductive Services Unit provides a comprehensive service for women requiring assistance, support or treatment for infertility and potential infertility including:

  • Investigation of infertility
  • Treatment to resolve conditions which affect fertility
  • Assistance for couples to achieve a pregnancy through IVF, artificial insemination, donor insemination and ovulation induction
  • Protecting fertility prior to treatments which may damage fertility, such as chemotherapy

Several infertility clinics are provided at the Women's, surgery is available if needed and treatment is also offered for male partners.

One of the services provided within reproductive services is Public Fertility Care (PFC) and Fertility Preservation. PFC provides high-quality, safe and value-based care that is inclusive and culturally safe, improving access to fertility services for those who are currently underserviced by the private sector.

About the role

As an Clinical Nurse consultant / Program Coordinator and relevant medical staff for fertility preservation program you will be responsible for program coordination and management with patient/family/local medical and surgical team to harvest healthy ovarian/testicular tissue prior to cancer treatment at the patient's local centre and arrange transport safely to RWH. You will work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team to provide specialised ongoing clinical care and support to patients and their families who are undergoing fertility preservation.

A regular day will see you:

  • Develop and maintain data collection, audit and reporting systems to support the program
  • Develop and present reports regularly to relevant committees and meetings
  • Develop and present reports regularly to relevant committees
  • Provide leadership and advice on the development of the national education program
  • Coordinate and embed the program nationally
  • Be able to travel interstate when required to educate health services across the country

About you

The Clinic Nurse Consultant is a role model to all other staff and is often the ‘face of the organisation' when dealing with internal and external customers. As such, a high standard of customer service provision should be exemplified at all times.

You'll bring with you:

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Division 1 Registered Nurse and / or Midwife
  • Minimum of five years acute nursing experience
  • Minimum of three years Fertility Nursing experience
