Who is Tabor? We are a Private Higher Education Provider, providing tertiary education with a Christian perspective within a more personal learning community. The College was founded in 1979 and has grown to a dynamic and vibrant education centre located in Adelaide with approximately 900 students. The Millswood campus is only five minutes south of the city, in a beautiful setting with plenty of free parking and access via public transport.

Tabor's Library is the front face of Tabor to the community and students. The Library offers a reception service to welcome external stakeholders to our facilities and a focal point for student study and community.

The role involves
The Library Assistant (LA) is the front face of Tabor, greeting staff, students and visitors to the College and assisting with the provision of Library resources. The Library Assistant will assist the Library team leader with project work in response to the needs of the Tabor Library. The Tabor Library team also manage and provide a point of contact in welcoming visitors to the college and directing phone calls. This roles helps facilitate connection to the full range of study guides and assistance and pastoral care by Tabor to enhance student wellbeing and scholarly success.

We are keen to meet you if you are a person with

  • Passion for the education and training of students in a Christian organisation
  • Knowledge of library management systems and cataloguing.
  • Excellence in interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
  • A warm and welcoming personality, willing and able to thrive in a team environment but also the ability to work independently and show initiative.
  • Knowledge required to provide a circulation service (issues, returns, renewals and reservations)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of key issues and trends in academic libraries, including the role of information technology, information literacy and communication.
  • The ability to catalogue using the Dewey Decimal classification and library of congress subject headings.

Also you would be

  • Self-motivated, highly organised, detail orientated and able to function well under deadline pressures and meet targets

Essential qualifications:

  • A diploma or degree in Library and Information Studies or other relevant library qualification or actively enrolled in such qualifications
  • Tertiary or Academic library experience is highly regarded
