About This Opportunity

Exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow to engage in the Thriving Kids Brain Builders Initiative (TKBBI).

The TKBBI is a collaboration between the Queensland Brain Institute (QBI), Thriving Queensland Kids Partnership (TQKP), and ARACY, in conjunction with philanthropic, research, government, NGO and community partners. The goal of TKBBI is to translate evidence on brain development to support those working with children and families in Queensland. Specifically, this project seeks to:

  • Identify and address opportunities for embedding neuro-informed policy and practice across all those working and interacting with children, young people and families.
  • Translate and develop professional training materials and resources for child and family focused workforces, communities and other key stakeholders.
  • Engage and co-design implementation with government, non-government and community organisations to enable large scale and sustainable practice and systems change.

A key focus of this role will be engagement with and translation for Early Childhood Development workforce (including Early Childhood Education and Care sector).

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Research, Translation and Implementation: Lead and collaborate on the development, implementation, translation and evaluation of research with relevant industry partners, co-design professional development training materials and resources and seek and manage research, translation and evaluation funding
  • Engagement and Researcher Development: Develop and foster relationships with the government, non-government and community organisations and engage with relevant disciplinary and professional communities
  • Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

About You
  • Completed PhD in developmental psychology, child development, early childhood or related field, noting the focus of TKBBI is translation of evidence of brain development for those working and engaging with children, young people and their families (e.g., early childhood education sector, playgroups, schools, allied health, government employees).
  • Experience and demonstrated ability in the co-design of research and research evaluations.
  • Expertise in translation of research evidence into practice and/or policy for workforces and others engaging with children, young people and their families.
  • Experience conducting and delivering research for those supporting, working and interacting with children, young people and families.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with industry partners, including government, non-government and community organisations.
  • A developing reputation and track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and conference presentations.
  • Evidence of successfully seeking, obtaining, and managing external research funding.
  • A growing record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, education check, and blue card check.
