Posted 10 days ago
The Seasonal Worker Coordinator is the link between the company's Australian operations and the seasonal Pacific Islander Teams who play such a tremendous role in bringing the best produce to market. Reporting to the Financial Controller, it represents a huge opportunity for an HR professional to learn unique skills and experience sides of the industry that most never see in a hands-on, proactive way.
The role
The essence of the role is to proactively coordinate the recruitment, visas, transportation, on-boarding, movements and accommodation of seasonal workers working in NT and North QLD. Expect to use your initiative often, and to work autonomously as you gain skills and confidence. Main Responsibilities include:
- Co-ordinate requirements of recruitment alongside of Operational Managers.
- Prepare recruitment and accommodation plans and ensure lodgement with PALM (Pacific Australia Labourer Mobility).
- Organise and co-ordinate the timely application of visas, bookings for all travel and accommodation.
- Organisation of movements of workers between farm sites.
- Responsible for the administration of the PALM/Seasonal Worker Program including ensuring compliance with Government requirements for Approved Employers.
- Deliver / co-ordinate the delivery of, inductions, arrival and departure briefings to ensure smooth transitions.
- Respond to ad-hoc inquiries and conduct fortnightly welfare meetings with Seasonal Workers.
- Build trust and strong relationships with workers to ensure any matters of concern are understood and addressed.
- Assist workers with access to services required (e.g. medical, any other personal needs)
- Ensure Payroll Officer is kept informed to administer all wage adjustments for seasonal workers in compliance with PALM and Fair Work.
- Incident Reporting process, health insurance claims, workers compensation claims in co-ordination with Payroll / Finance team.
- Understanding, researching and keeping up to date with all PALM requirements.
- Assisting HR admin including policy and procedure roll out, awareness and education.
The role is based at Eagle Farm and generally you can expect to work normal office hours (we have some flexibility in what those hours are). Harvest in NT starts with a bang around late September, and you will be based there for 3-4 weeks working hands-on, including driving workers from accommodations to farms, making sure they are settling into their routines, are clear on expectations and so on. You can expect to work 6 days a week for that short period, as the fruit comes on fast. The workers are managed by our operational team on-site, but if there is a personal issue you can expect to be the first point of contact.
You
This is a role for an all-rounder, as it combines business awareness and excellent admin with sincere empathy and compassion. Our business is built on everyone who is a part of it, there is no separation.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- A current driving license and safe driving habits.
- First Aid Certificate (we can help you get that).
- Competence with computer applications.
- Excellent communication skills, in-person and in writing.
- Excellent time management and prioritization, especially you're busiest. Your naturally professional and calm approach will see you thrive in this.
- As much as any of those things, your personal style will be one that actively contributes to a productive, positive, open and cooperative workplace.
- You're going to be able to show that you have familiarity with the admin side of HR, and probably in going out of your way to help people too. Knowledge of the PALM scheme and Fair Work Act are preferred but not essential so long as you are keen to learn.
Benefits
This is a unique chance to get serious about HR in a unique hands-on, diverse and proactive way, with wonderful personal growth opportunities and experiences you'll always benefit from and never forget.
- A generous salary that respects your skills, along with future growth potential.
- Unique learning and up-skilling opportunities where you'll see and do so much more than many do in their whole career.
- A highly skilled, respected and ethical team to work with.
- A convenient inner-suburbs location with parking provided,
- HR as an engaging life experience, rather than simply a 9-5 admin job.
