About the Role:
We are looking for a highly experienced and driven Plumbing Project Manager to lead and oversee project delivery from inception to the completion of the defect liability period. You will serve as the critical link between the estimating team and project execution, ensuring that each project is completed efficiently, on time, and within budget.
Key responsibilities include coordinating with site teams, senior management, clients, and subcontractors to ensure safe, productive, and successful project delivery. You will be responsible for managing risks, optimizing project outcomes, and ensuring compliance with construction programs and safety standards.
This is a demanding but rewarding role, requiring excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills to drive project success while maintaining the highest standards of quality and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage project teams, Site Managers, and staff, ensuring they are trained, supported, and aligned with project goals.
- Oversee and manage all phases of project delivery, from planning and budgeting through to completion and defect liability period.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet company and client standards for quality and safety.
- Monitor and control project finances, including cost reporting, claims, and forecasting (using software).
- Proactively manage variations and ensure compliance with contract documentation and procedures.
- Conduct site quality checks to ensure high standards of work are maintained and address any issues or disputes that arise.
- Foster strong client relationships, providing exceptional customer service and maintaining open communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate and manage subcontractors, labor, and suppliers to ensure seamless project execution.
- Promote a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with HSE/QA legislation and company safety systems (e.g., HammerTech).
- Drive innovation and cost-saving initiatives, ensuring contractual obligations are met without compromising quality.
- Support company professional development initiatives and identify skill gaps within the team for future training and growth.
About You:
To succeed in this role, you will bring the following skills and experience:
- A relevant trade qualification in plumbing, with a strong understanding of commercial and industrial plumbing systems, codes, and regulations.
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar role within the plumbing industry, including demonstrated success in delivering high-value projects.
- A tertiary qualification in Project Management or extensive industry experience will be highly regarded.
- Proven ability to read and interpret hydraulic-related drawings, specifications, and management systems.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to effectively manage and develop project teams.
- A solid commercial mindset, with the ability to manage budgets, control costs, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within financial targets.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and team members.
- A proactive and solutions-focused attitude, with the ability to manage pressure, meet deadlines, and solve challenges with a positive outlook.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and client satisfaction, with experience implementing and managing HSE/QA systems.
- Strong time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Competence in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) and familiarity with project management software (e.g., Aconex, Procore, Styck).
- Adaptability and flexibility to meet the demands of changing project requirements and challenges.
